first, i will outline some important views - at least, at the time i thought they were - that i had to present during my undergraduate career. because Middlebury College is a liberal arts institution, the papers and ideas presented hereafter will cover various disciplines, as required for graduation. in certain instances, i have taken the liberty to read and make grammatical corrections wherever i have detected them. other than that, and aside from adapting a few assignments that do not translate as well from college work in the last century to this presentation, all else remains true to the original.

in my first semester at Middlebury, i took a Freshman Seminar, International Environmental Politics (not sure), Introduction to Macroeconomics, Computer Science I and ********. The work done for this semester is, at this point, unavailable and unlikely to be made available in the foreseeable future.

at the present moment, we start with January Term (hereinafter j-term) 1998. This class was "A History of Modern Brazil," presented by Darién Davis. he was a tough grader. we noted (that is, my good man Omollo and myself) that i did most of the work presented, etc etc, and Omollo goofed off, and the grade differential between the two of us did not justify my not spending more time on the slopes. not that i would have. in any event, my good man BQ encountered D. Davis close to the end of our time at Midd and took a class with him, despite my exhortation not to. he lives to regret it. On to the papers... remember, all this work FOR j-term!!!! such consternation i was left with.
